Information the service may process
Depending on how an organization configures the platform, Onward Signal may process account information, school and program information, brand materials, calendars, content drafts, media assets, social account identifiers, analytics, approval history, support requests, and student media-consent records entered by authorized school staff.
Student information
The platform is designed to minimize student data. Student media-consent records are used to help authorized school staff govern whether linked images or videos may move through social publishing workflows. Schools remain responsible for deciding what information is appropriate to enter, upload, publish, retain, or disclose.
AI processing
AI features may use school-provided context to draft content, extract durable institutional knowledge, suggest campaigns, create visual concepts, or summarize communication priorities. The product is designed to keep human approval and organizational governance around higher-risk publishing decisions.
Access and security
Access is role-based. Organizations can assign school-level roles and approval permissions. Sensitive credentials are stored through protected server-side resource mechanisms rather than exposed in browser code. Audit history records selected administrative and workflow actions.
Media consent
Authorized administrators can record media-permission status and link students to governed assets. The scheduling workflow can block content when linked permission is missing, expired, or does not allow social-media use.
Retention and deletion
Retention requirements may vary by customer, record type, law, contract, and school policy. A production deployment should define final retention, export, deletion, breach-response, subprocessors, and data-processing terms in the applicable customer agreement.
